It is with heavy hearts and immense gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Barry Ward, who left us peacefully on August 8, 2026. Born in New York City on March 14, 1941, Barry's life was a testament to love, laughter, and service. The son of Herb and Judy Ward, Barry graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School before serving his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. His sense of duty and discipline carried over into civilian life, where he pursued his passion for the culinary arts at Johnson and Wales in Providence, Rhode Island. Barry's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he owned and operated three successful restaurants and an Irish pub on Long Island, New York, each a testament to his love for food and community. Barry married the love of his life, Elizabeth Francis, on June 2, 1999. Together, they shared over two decades of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Barry was the proud father of ten wonderful children and the beloved grandfather to 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. An active member of the Elks Club, Barry was also dedicated to giving back to his community through his volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. He believed deeply in the power of helping others and lived his life as a beacon of generosity and kindness. Barry's passions were as diverse as his accomplishments. He found solace and joy in deep-sea fishing, often using these excursions to bond with his children and grandchildren. His skill at darts was legendary, earning him the title of an eight-time regional champion. Barry's quick wit and infectious laughter left an indelible mark on everyone he met, and his ability to bring smiles to those around him was unparalleled. While Barry was predeceased by his parents, Herb and Judy, his legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Elizabeth, his large and loving family, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity and humor. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the First Responders and Police for their efforts, as well as to everyone who has offered kind words and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, Barry would prefer donations to a charity of your choice, continuing his lifelong commitment to helping others. A private ceremony will be held to honor Barry's life, attended by family and close friends. The family appreciates your understanding and support. Thank you and God bless.
