Barry Butner
September 7, 1964 — July 16, 2026
Barry Butner, a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on September 7, 1964, in Monroe, NC, Barry was the son of the late Barry Lamar Butner and Sadie Deese Butner. He is remembered as a hard-working, blue-collar man whose dedication and love were the cornerstone of his family and his life.
Barry spent his formative years in Monroe, where he developed a deep appreciation for hard work and family values. These qualities laid the foundation for the successful landscaping business he built and nurtured with his own hands. His tireless efforts not only enriched the landscapes of many homes but also the lives of those who knew him.
Married to the love of his life, Tammy Butner, for over 36 years, Barry's devotion to his family was unparalleled. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Kelly Barlaan and her husband Ryan, and Brandon Butner and his wife Jessica. Barry’s eyes always lit up when he spoke of his six adoring grandchildren: Keaton, Kaeson, Kaydence, Kinleigh, Roman, and Ryker. They were the pride and joy of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Barry was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. He also spent many years as a softball player, where his teammates knew him not only for his skill but for his sportsmanship and camaraderie. These passions reflected the vibrant and spirited side of Barry, whose presence brought warmth and joy to all gatherings.
He is survived by his loving wife Tammy, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren, and his sister, Lisa Wuestenberg, and her husband Billy. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Barry Lamar Butner and Sadie Deese Butner, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
A service to celebrate Barry’s life will be held on July 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hils Chapel UMC. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose life was a testament to love, hard work, and family.
