Mr Barry Alonza Gentry affectionately known as "Bear" was born May 1, 1959 to the late RD and Bertha Pass Gentry. He entered into eternal rest on September 14, 2026 at his residence in Graham, NC. Bear grew up in Durham NC where he attended Durham Public Schools. Once he left school, he landed a job with Fernstrom Moving and Storage. Being the inquisitive man that he was not content with just moving furniture, he taught himself to drive 18 wheelers by driving them on the lot. And off he went driving long distance until the company went out of business. Afterwards, he worked for the City of Durham briefly until he found his place at Advanced Auto in Durham where he spent the next 38 years serving the citizens of Durham. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Robert (Tewie) and David Wayne Gentry, his paternal grandmother Rosa Thomas Gentry, his maternal grandmother Annie (Suki Jane) Pass, his special aunt Mary Frances Richmond Pass and niece Jayda Parker (Jay Bug). He leaves to cherish his trash talking sense of humor; love for UNC basketball, and Dallas Cowboys, one brother Kenneth (Shamber) Gentry of Mebane, NC, 3 sisters: Cheryl Gentry of Durham, NC, Kathy G Taylor of Graham, NC, and Nakesha Gentry of Mebane, NC. Even though he did not have children, he loved all of his nieces and nephews with a fatherly love so much that he gave them all his personal nicknames: Lionel Gentry (Scuz), Cherylle Gentry (Twiggas), Michera Gentry (Poo Poo), Natyana Gentry (My Face), Zah'Kya Gentry (Toonk), Kiara Ramey (Key), Myriah Gentry (Rye), Genelle Gentry (Snoo), Chanda (Reece) McCullers (Chan), Laneshi P Maye (Puttin), Mekhi Ramey (Kizzel), Lyric Parker (Ric Ric), Justin Maye (Main Man Justin), Adonis McKellar (DD), Dante Hawley (Nittle Man), Joy Gentry (Roc), Mario Royster (Rio), Destiney Royster (Dee), and Zanea Diboh (Nay). Let Me Go (Miss Me But Let Me Go)

When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not for long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that once we shared Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take And each must go alone. It's all part of the master plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know. Laugh at all the things we used to do Miss me, but let me go.

Special Thanks

The family of our loved one extends heartfelt gratitude for your prayers, support, and kindness during this time.
