It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara VanPatten, who peacefully departed this world on September 26, 2026, at her cherished home. Born on January 25, 1961, in Crisfield, Maryland, Barbara moved here at just two years old.
Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Grady D. Sutton and Joyce Kay Sutton. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy Lee Sutton and Jack Sutton, and her father-in-law, Gerald Van Patten.
In 1977, Barbara found her life partner and soulmate, Mark Van Patten, whom she married on February 24th, 1980 in Ft. Pierce. Together, they built a family she was extremely proud of. Barbara was a devoted mother to her daughters, Desiree VanPatten and Jennifer Mayberry (Keith), and a doting grandmother to her six cherished grandchildren: Hunter Shepherd, Harper Shepherd, Alejandro Fellipone, Hayden Shepherd, Abigail Fellipone and Clayton Mayberry. Her extended family includes her beloved mother in love Margaretta Van Patten, her sisters, Paula Hall (Robin), Cindy Klahne, brothers, William Steve Sutton, Scott VanPatten, and Mike (Debbie) VanPatten as well as her eight nieces and nephews and ten great-nieces and nephews.
Known for her quick wit and straightforward demeanor, Barbara was an engaging conversationalist and a loyal friend. Her love for her family and friends was boundless, and she would go to great lengths to support and protect them. She had a passion for the University of Florida sports teams, especially softball and football, and she cherished her time spent boating with friends and making memories with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on November 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM until 5PM at Tiffany's home, located at 1404 Hartman Rd. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a woman who touched so many hearts. It will be a come and go as you please style.
