Barbara Tryba Mendrala, beloved mother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on March 10, 1945, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Casimir Tryba and Helen Papuga Tryba. After graduating from Chicopee High School in the class of 1962, Barbara continued her education at Northampton Commercial College, where she graduated in 1964. She continued her education earning an Associate Degree from Northampton Junior College in 1970. In 1965, Barbara married Thomas Mendrala, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that spanned 61 years. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and laughter, nurturing their family with unwavering dedication. They started a business together, Northeastern Avionics and Air Services and where a partnership through to the end. They moved to The Villages, Florida in 2001 and made the most of their retirement through participating in many clubs and groups and enjoying what The Villages had to offer. A spirited and creative soul, Barbara was renowned for her baking talents, particularly her exquisite cake decorating and chocolate creations. Her home was often the vibrant setting for family celebrations, where her hospitality and generous spirit shone brightly. Barbara was known for her commitment to public service and her astute business sense, qualities that made her a respected and loved member of her community. Her beloved husband Thomas predeceased her, yet their legacy of love endures through their children: Nancy Mendrala of Washington, DC, and Karen Warfel and her husband Robert of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Barbara is also survived by her sisters, Diane Catelotti of Hubardston, MA, and Christine Cofrin with her husband David of Atlanta, GA, as well as her brother, Casimir Tryba and his wife Debbi. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she was the heart of their gatherings, always ensuring that everyone felt welcome and cherished. In her later years, Barbara found joy and camaraderie in various groups within The Villages, including the Red Hats, Mahjong, Glenview Golf, and as a dedicated volunteer for Seniors versus Crime. Her involvement in these organizations was a testament to her active and engaging personality, as well as her desire to contribute positively to those around her. Barbara's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and community. Her spirited personality and compassionate nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family and friends are encouraged to honor her memory through contributions to dementia research or a charity of their choice, reflecting Barbara's enduring legacy of love and care for others.
