Barbara Sue Keller, a cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this life on July 28, 2026, after a sudden illness. Born on September 10, 1943, in Ehrmandale, Indiana, Barbara was the beloved daughter of Clyde and Tilly (Hoopingarner) Smith. Her life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and resilience, touching all who had the fortune to know her.
Barbara dedicated her life to caring for others, a calling she fulfilled with unwavering dedication as an Emergency Room nurse. Her career began at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida, where her skill and empathy made her an indispensable part of the medical team. Later, she brought her talents to the Pensacola area, working in various locations and leaving a legacy of care that will not soon be forgotten.
Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara was a woman of many passions. Her love for sewing was evident in the countless garments she lovingly crafted for her children, a testament to her creativity and devotion. Her kitchen was a haven of home-cooked meals, where warmth and nourishment were always on the menu. After retiring, Barbara's adventurous spirit led her to the scenic mountains of Tennessee, Kentucky, and the Carolinas. There, she found tranquility in hiking the wooded trails and sitting by babbling creeks, enveloped by the beauty of nature.
Barbara's life was enriched by her loving family. She is survived by her son, Lee B. Keller (Marrie), daughter, Tina M. LeClercq-Carroll, granddaughter, Chloe L. Carroll, and grandson, David P. LeClercq, and sister Linda Jeffers.They remember her as a guiding light and a source of endless love and support.
She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter April Lynn LeClercq, granddaughter Trisha Lynn Alcorn, great-grandson Caleb LeClercq, former husband Jack L. Keller, and her siblings: Clyde (Bun) Smith, Roy D. Smith, Betty, Gertrude (Gal), Alva Smith, George Smith, Freddie Smith, Shirley (Shoog) David Smith, Kathern (May), and Marilyn/Carolyn. Though they have gone before her, their spirits remain interwoven with her own.
In honoring Barbara's memory, her family invites those who knew her to donate to a charity of their choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.
