It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Barbara Stucker Baker, who left this world peacefully on July 18, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on March 26, 1934, in Harviell, Missouri, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Leonard and Edna Pennington. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
Barbara’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and dedication. She graduated from Doniphan High School in 1952 and furthered her education at Three Rivers Community College, a place that would later become her workplace and second home. Barbara dedicated her professional life to serving as the Secretary for the Nursing & Allied Health program at Three Rivers Community College, where she touched many lives with her grace and professionalism. Before this, she worked at the old Poplar Bluff Hospital, offering her gentle care and support until its closure.
Barbara was a devoted member of the Second Baptist Church, where she found joy and community until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, nurturing her spirit and inspiring those around her.
Family was at the heart of Barbara’s world. She was predeceased by her two beloved husbands, Ralph Stucker and Bill Baker, her parents Leonard and Edna, her brothers Earl and Ray Pennington, and her grandson Robert Kayser. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter, Karen Sue Kayser, and her husband Alan of Jacksonville, Florida, and her son Ralph Stucker and his wife Pamela of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Barbara was blessed with three grandchildren, Brittany Gentry and her husband Harry of Jacksonville, Florida, Amy Stucker of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Aaron Stucker and his wife Natalie of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Connor Kayser of Independence, Missouri, Jackson Stucker of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Mavrick Gentry of Jacksonville, Florida. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit and will forever remember the warmth of her embrace and the wisdom of her words.
In her leisure time, Barbara found immense joy in the company of her family, taking great pride in her grandchildren's achievements and cherishing every moment spent in their presence. Her love extended beyond her family to her church community, where she found solace and purpose.
In honor of Barbara's life and her generous spirit, the family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of your choice, reflecting her belief in giving back and supporting causes close to the heart.
