It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Strawser, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many, who left this world peacefully on June 9, 2026, at UPMC Hospital, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Barbara was born on April 3, 1955, in Fort Leonard, Missouri, to George and Erma Myers. She grew up in a nurturing household where she was instilled with values of kindness, generosity, and a deep sense of community—qualities that she carried with her throughout her life. She graduated from Newport High School in Newport, PA, where she made lifelong friends and began to build the foundation of her future endeavors. On March 30, 1975, Barbara married her best friend and soulmate, Thomas Strawser. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and an unbreakable bond. Their marriage was a testament to the power of enduring love and mutual respect. Barbara and Thomas were blessed with a daughter, Kandace Little, who was the light of their lives. Barbara embraced her role as a mother with passion and dedication, always putting her family first. Her love extended to her son-in-law, Robert Little, and her granddaughter, Jasmine Little, with whom she shared a special bond. Barbara's career at Weis Market in Newport, PA, was characterized by her unwavering work ethic and her genuine care for her colleagues and customers. She was known for her bright spirit and humor, bringing joy and laughter to all those around her. A woman of varied interests, Barbara found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved reading and knitting, often creating beautiful pieces for her loved ones. She had a fondness for amusement parks, where she delighted in the vibrant atmosphere and cherished memories made with her family. Barbara also enjoyed peaceful walks around her neighborhood and tending to her garden, where her love of roses flourished alongside her nurturing spirit. Barbara was predeceased by her father, George Myers, and her sisters, Darlene Henry and Michelle Jochimsen. She is survived by her beloved mother, Erma Myers; her sister Brenda Butler; her devoted husband, Thomas Strawser; her loving daughter, Kandace Little; her son-in-law, Robert Little; her step-grandchildren, Christine Little and Breanna Cook; her treasured granddaughter, Jasmine Little; and five great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to UPMC Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Barbara in her final days. They also wish to express their sincere appreciation to family and friends for their unwavering support and comforting words during this difficult time. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at Pine Grove Church of God, located at 2041 Newport Rd, Newport, PA 17074. As we gather to honor her memory, let us remember Barbara for the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of kindness, love, and humor that will continue to inspire us all. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Barbara's name to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to her generous and compassionate spirit.
