In Loving Memory

Barbara Slotto
May 27, 1952 — October 28, 2026
Barbara Slotto, a cherished soul who graced this world with her warmth and generosity, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026, after bravely facing health challenges and Alzheimer's disease. Born on May 27, 1952, in the vibrant city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Barbara was the beloved daughter of Eleanor and Joseph Marszalek, who predeceased her.
Barbara's journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community. She was married to Gary Slotto, and though their marriage did not endure, they maintained a bond of friendship that lasted throughout their lives. Together, they raised two daughters, Michelle and Melissa Slotto, who were the light of her life. Barbara's legacy lives on through her three grandchildren, Maliya, Alex, and Alaina Slotto, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her dear cousin, Dorie Nicolaus, also survives her, cherishing the special memories they shared.
Professionally, Barbara dedicated over 30 years to the food industry, working for KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell Corp, where her tenacity and leadership skills shone brightly. Later, she transitioned to a managerial role at Office Depot, eventually retiring from a fulfilling career in sales. Her colleagues and clients alike admired her quick wit, immense heart, and dedication to excellence.
Barbara's vibrant personality was complemented by her love for the simple pleasures of life. She found solace in nature, often taking long walks with her beloved dogs and engaging in heartfelt conversations with neighbors. The changing colors of the trees in the fall never failed to captivate her, and she cherished the quiet moments shared over a steaming cup of coffee. In her youth, she enjoyed the thrill of skating on frozen lakes, and as an adult, she delighted in traveling, both for business and leisure.
A great listener and a masterful conversationalist who truly loved to talk and connect with people, Barbara touched the lives of many with her generosity, kindness and vibrant energy. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying a spirit of compassion that left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on November 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at the Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Funeral Chapel and Cemetery, located at 3816 N Penn Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55412. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff at Mercy and Unity, as well as Huriya Gerba, owner of Golden Star Residential Care, who went above and beyond to provide immense comfort, love, and dedicated care during Barbara's final days.
