It is with profound sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Barbara Romano Boihem, who departed this world on June 25, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 7, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Barbara was a beacon of light to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She faced the challenges of dementia with extraordinary grace and strength, a testament to her enduring spirit and the deep bonds she shared with her family and friends. Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Lucas and Juliet Bartholomew Romano. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 66 years, Burton Ray Boihem, her sister Frances Romano, brother Lucas Romano, and her nephew Melvin Prange. The love they shared remains a guiding light for those left behind. She is survived by her devoted children, Sandra Simmons (Jack), Joy Desrochers (Larry), David Boihem (Julie), and Rae Marie Rodriguez (Emilio). Barbara's legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit and love. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness. Barbara's life was filled with the simple joys that brought immense happiness to her and those around her. Her passion for sewing and quilting produced beautiful keepsakes that will be treasured for generations. Some of her fondest memories were created during cruises and trips with her cousins, Pat and Carol, where they shared laughter and companionship that lasted a lifetime. Barbara possessed an innate ability to light up any room she entered, spreading warmth, laughter, and a sense of ease to all in her presence. Her compassionate nature and infectious smile made the world a brighter place. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at Brookdale Memory Care and the Integra Nurses. Their kindness, patience, and unwavering support provided Barbara with comfort and dignity throughout her journey, and their care made a meaningful difference in her life. A memorial service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on August 7, 2026, a date that would have marked her 90th birthday, a fitting tribute to a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc., an organization that provides support and research for dementia, a cause close to the hearts of all who loved her.
