In Loving Memory of Barbara Mushrall
Barbara Mushrall, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, peacefully passed away at home on May 26, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of her devoted family. Born on February 7, 1940, in the quaint town of Belfast, Maine, Barbara was the daughter of the late Osmond and Evelyn George. Her life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and creativity, woven with threads of cherished memories and lasting friendships.
Barbara's early years were spent in Searsport, Maine, where she graduated from Searsport High School in 1957. Known for her kind spirit and gentle nature, she cultivated many lifelong friendships, all of whom fondly remember her as a woman of great warmth and wisdom.
A dedicated worker, Barbara spent several enriching years at the Flour Barrel and Kwik Stop, where her colleagues became an extension of her family. Her kind words and welcoming smile left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed her path.
Barbara's heart was as expansive as her talents. An avid painter, crocheter, and knitter, she brightened many lives with her artistic creations. She donated her paintings to the Maine Veteran’s Home in Bangor, a place close to her heart where she lovingly cared for her husband Max. Additionally, her knitted hats, mittens, and scarves warmed the lives of countless individuals at local hospitals, a testament to her generous spirit.
Her artistic soul found solace and joy in the music jams she attended regularly, where she shared laughter and music with her dear friends. A devoted member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Barbara's faith was a guiding light in her life, bringing her comfort and community.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jeffrey Stevens, grandsons Derek Fish and Jammie Stevens, and former husbands Richard Stevens and Max Mushrall. Though their absence brought sorrow, her family finds peace knowing they are reunited in the heavens above.
Left to honor Barbara's memory are her children, Lee and wife Janet, Pam and husband John Jr., Rosie and husband Bobby, Lorie, and April and partner Todd. Her sister Becky, along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her close friend Wayne Holyoke, also survive her. Barbara's legacy lives on in her 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who carry forward her values of kindness and love.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at St. Joseph's Hospital and Hospice Care for their unwavering support and kindness during Barbara's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to St. Joseph's Hospice, a cause dear to her heart, at https://stjosephbangor.org/support-st-joseph/.
In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate Barbara’s life. While her physical presence will be profoundly missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
Barbara Mushrall will be remembered not only for the beauty she created in her art but for the beauty she inspired in others through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
