It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Barbara Molinar, a cherished wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother, and steadfast friend. Barbara peacefully departed this world on April 13, 2026, at her home in Albuquerque, after a courageous and long battle with cancer. She was 75 years old.
Barbara was born on June 22, 1950, in the enchanting city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, to her loving parents, Katie and Ray Lopez. Raised in a home filled with warmth and love, she grew up alongside her older sister, Marry Garcia, and younger brother, Raul Lopez. Her parents and sister preceded her in death, leaving Barbara as a guiding light for those she leaves behind.
A woman of remarkable intellect and curiosity, Barbara graduated with honors from Rio Grande High School in 1968. Her passion for the sciences led her to the University of New Mexico, where she earned a Master's degree in Physics—a testament to her dedication and love for learning.
On a beautiful Valentine's Day in 1980, Barbara married the love of her life, Ramon Molinar. Together, they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, marked by love, companionship, and shared dreams. Their home was a haven of joy and laughter, nurtured by the family they built together.
Barbara's legacy lives on through her three beloved daughters, Erica, Mona, and Patty, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was a doting grandmother to six grandchildren and a great-grandmother to two, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her days. Her brother, Raul, and two wonderful nieces, Shaiya G. and Molly H., were constants in her life, providing love and support through her journey.
A woman of grace, Barbara was adored by many friends, each touched by her kindness and wisdom. Her friendships were a testament to her generous spirit and genuine warmth. She had a way of making everyone feel special, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Barbara faced her illness with the same courage and dignity that defined her life, finding solace in the love of her family and friends. Her strength was an inspiration, her resilience a beacon of hope for those around her.
In honoring Barbara's life, we remember a woman of boundless love, unwavering strength, and endless compassion. Her legacy is one of devotion to family, passion for learning, and a life lived with purpose and grace. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind—a testament to a life beautifully lived and dearly cherished.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor her memory and share in the stories that define her remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a cancer research foundation of your choice, in hopes of finding a cure for this devastating disease.
