The cherished daughter of George and Helen Gunn, Barbara grew up in a home where warmth and kindness were the foundations of family life. She graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1969, where she laid the groundwork for her future successes. Barbara's educational journey took her across various colleges, ultimately culminating at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where her tenacity and determination truly shone through.
In 1971, Barbara married the love of her life, Peter Donlon, in a beautiful ceremony at the McGowan Church alongside the scenic Columbia River in Chinook, Washington. Their love story is one of devotion and partnership, filled with endless adventures and cherished memories. Together, they raised a loving family, including their beloved children, Kyle and Lisa Donlon, and their adored grandchildren, Samantha, Lucy, Liam, and Lucas Donlon.
Barbara's career was as eclectic and vibrant as her personality. She dedicated her professional life to serving others, working at the Naselle Youth Camp and Senior Services, where her compassion and empathy touched countless lives. She also expressed her entrepreneurial spirit through her own boutique, Fishermen & Wives, long before boutiques became the trend. Barbara's creativity and business acumen were evident in every venture she undertook.
A woman of deep faith, Barbara was an active member of the Catholic Church and served as a cornerstone in the Naselle Community. Her unwavering commitment to her community and her church was a testament to her generous spirit and her desire to make the world a better place for all.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Pete Donlon; their children, Kyle and Lisa Donlon; and her treasured grandchildren, Samantha, Lucy, Liam, and Lucas Donlon. She also leaves behind her siblings, Karen Logan, Helen Gunn, and Earnest Gunn, who will forever cherish the memories shared with their beloved sister.
Barbara's life was one of action, strength, and resilience, and even in her passing, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her cause of death, humorously noted as "kicking ass and taking names," is a fitting tribute to her indomitable spirit and her fearless approach to life's challenges.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Barbara's remarkable life at Salmon Creek Cemetery. Her family and loved ones will gather to celebrate the incredible woman she was, sharing stories and memories that will keep her spirit alive for generations to come.
