Daughter of the late William R. Diggs and Thelma N. Diggs, Barbara was predeceased by her cherished children, Kenneth Larry and Kevin Larry, and siblings Velma Diggs, Annie Diggs Hawkins, Raymond Diggs, Doris Diggs, Eugene Diggs, William (Butch) Diggs II, Iris Diggs, Theresa Diggs Joyner, and Ernest Diggs. Barbara and Ivory’s love story began over 60 years ago, a union that was as enduring as it was tender. Their marriage was a testament to mutual respect, understanding, and an unyielding spirit of togetherness.
A proud graduate of Garfield High School, Barbara pursued higher education at the University of Washington, where she earned a degree in business finance. Her career began at Washington Mutual Bank as a teller, where she quickly became known for her quick wit and ability to think on her feet. She was never shy to express her opinion and was always ready to lend a helping hand, not only sharing her resources but also giving generously of her time.
Barbara was a dedicated member of the People's Institutional Baptist Church for over 40 years. Her commitment to the church community was unwavering, serving on the Board of Trustees, choir director for the Gospel Chorus, and participating in numerous ministries. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her.
An avid traveler, Barbara found joy in exploring new places and especially loved cruising. Her passion for reading, particularly Bible studies, kept her mind sharp and her spirit enriched.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cedar River Healthcare Center for their compassionate care during Barbara's time at their facility. They also wish to express their appreciation for the overwhelming outpour of love and support from friends during this difficult time.
