Barbara Laplume, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on November 14, 1950, in the quaint town of Sparta, Wisconsin, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Martin Gieser and Betty Mann. Her journey through life was marked by a steadfast devotion to family, an unwavering love for music, and a heart that embraced both people and animals with equal warmth. Barbara's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and laughter. She shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Edward Laplume, who stood by her side through every high and low, creating memories filled with love and joy. Together, they built a family that would become Barbara's greatest pride and joy. As a mother, Barbara was the bedrock of her family, nurturing her children with love and guidance. She leaves behind her daughter Melissa Fregault and husband Robert of Attleboro, MA; daughter Dawn Ross and husband Randy of Exeter, RI; and son Joseph Laplume and wife Lisa of Harrisville, RI. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Jennifer Tapley of North Kingstown, RI, Eric Tapley of Cumberland, RI, Samantha Fregault of Attleboro, MA, Justin Laplume of Harrisville, RI, and Kayla Russell of Harrisville, RI, all of whom were blessed with her boundless affection. Her legacy continues through her eight great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Barbara was a woman of many passions. Her love for country music and concerts was well-known, often sharing the joy of a good song with friends and family. Her home was a haven for animals, and her compassionate heart knew no bounds when it came to caring for them. She enjoyed countless moments surrounded by the laughter of friends and loved ones, creating a lifetime of cherished memories. She is survived by her siblings, Nancy Desrosiers, Janet Washington, Mary Hobba, and Richard Gieser, who, along with her family, will carry forward her legacy of kindness and love. Barbara was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Gieser and sister Patricia Rajotte, who she now joins in eternal peace. Barbara's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will be profoundly missed but forever remembered. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter in Barbara's name, reflecting her lifelong love and compassion for animals.
