Barbara Jean Johnson

Barbara Jean Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 in the loving care of her son Wayne and his wife Jeanette. Born on January 2, 1932, in North Hollywood, California, Barbara was the daughter of George William and Annamae Julia Armstrong. On March 5, 1952, Barbara married, Eugene Johnson, in Bellevue, Washington. Together, they shared 57 years and raised four children. She was the mother of, BJ Voakes (Don), James Young (Ellen), Ernie Johnson, Gail LaPoint (Wayne), and Wayne Johnson (Jeanette). Her pride and joy extended to her 11 grandchildren, as well as her 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Barbara is predeceased by her husband, Eugene Johnson, her parents, her brothers, Robert Inkster and Douglas Nichols, and her great-grandson, Jayden Andonie. She is survived by her siblings Shirley Driskell, Steve Nichols, and Pauline Nichols, as well as her dear friend Janet Stevens, with whom she shared many cherished conversations each day. An active member of the VFW Auxiliary, Barbara dedicated much of her time to serving her community in various capacities. She loved giving out candy during Halloween and Christmas. Her hobbies included fishing, crafting beautiful stockings with counted cross stitch, and creating baby blankets for each new grandchild. Barbara also enjoyed the thrill of visiting the casino and playing bingo with her friends. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the VFW Hall, located at 328 W Coolidge Ave., Coolidge, AZ 85128.
