Barbara J. Pickard

Barbara J. Pickard, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on April 21, 2026, just shy of her 76th birthday. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 24, 1950, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Glenn and Mae (Huston) Glenn. She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Mardi (Glenn) Veazey. Barbara, known affectionately as Barb to her family and friends, was a graduate of Charles W. Baker High School, Class of 1968. She went on to dedicate many years of her professional life to John Hancock, where her diligent work and unwavering commitment left a lasting impression on her colleagues and clients alike. Barb's life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and an ever-present spirit of giving. Her heart found joy in capturing life's moments through her camera lens. At every family gathering or friendly meet-up, Barb was the one behind the camera, preserving the laughter, love, and joy of those around her. These snapshots of life are treasures that her family will forever cherish. Her love for animals and nature was profound, and in her retirement, she devoted herself to nurturing this passion. Volunteering at her local animal shelter, Barb found a meaningful way to give her time and care, forming quiet connections with the animals and becoming a valued presence among those she worked with. Above all, Barb's family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her son, Leonard Pickard, and his wife, Nancy, who were blessed with three wonderful children: Kayla Abulencia (Zach), Joshua Pickard, and Jenna Pickard. As well as her great-grandchildren, Carter and Collyns Abulencia. She also leaves behind her brothers, Bruce Glenn (Carole), Chris Glenn, and Rich Glenn (Yesenia), who will remember her as a loving sister. In honoring Barb's life and her enduring love for animals, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your favorite local animal shelter in lieu of flowers. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life and the profound impact she had on those who knew her. Barbara J. Pickard's memory will be forever cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit of generosity, her love for capturing the beauty in everyday moments, and her unwavering dedication to her family and passions will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
