Barbara Gail Farmer
May 7, 1962 — June 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Gail Farmer, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully at her home on June 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 7, 1962, in Grand Junction, Colorado, Barbara lived a life full of love, laughter, and endless compassion.
Barbara was the cherished daughter of Mary V. Spangler and the late Thomas E. Sissom, who preceded her in death, along with her dear grandson, Johnathan Staats. She is survived by a loving family who will forever hold her in their hearts. Her mother, Mary, her children, Aimee Woodward (Josh), Shelly Staats (Jason), BreAnn Guiterrez (Jairo), and Ricky Bush (Ash), and her siblings, James Sissom and Vicki Guliford. Her nine adored grandchildren—Evan, Jake, Will, Luke, Kailee, Camila, Roman, and Gage—were her pride and joy, her guiding lights, and she delighted in sharing her collection of unicorns with her granddaughters, a symbol of her whimsical spirit and belief in magic.
Barbara's life was a tapestry woven with vibrant colors, with purple being her favorite, a reflection of her regal and passionate nature. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as camping, fishing, and listening to the soulful melodies of country music. These were the moments where she felt most at peace, surrounded by the beauty of nature, with the laughter of family echoing around her.
A service to celebrate and honor Barbara's life will be held on June 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched are invited to join in remembrance of a life lived with grace and generosity.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to HopeWest Hospice care, with special thanks to Ann and Gabby. Their compassion and support were a beacon of hope during this difficult time. The family is also immensely thankful to everyone who reached out and visited, providing comfort and strength in these trying moments.
Barbara Gail Farmer's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She taught us to appreciate the beauty in the world, to embrace each moment with joy, and to hold our loved ones close. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us every day.
