Barbara Ann Rhone, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away in her sleep on October 17, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on September 11, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, Barbara was a lifelong resident of the city she called home. Her final years were spent under the compassionate care of Glenburnie Rehabilitation, where she had been a resident since September 2024. Barbara was a beacon of love and warmth, known for her bubbly spirit and infectious laugh that could light up any room. Her kindness and friendliness were as natural to her as breathing, and she shared these gifts freely with everyone she encountered. Educated in Richmond Public Schools, Barbara dedicated her professional life to the dry cleaning business, where her work ethic and genuine care for her customers left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her heart was her greatest asset, and she poured it into her family. Barbara is survived by her devoted daughter, Drusilla Rhone, and her loving son, William Rhone Jr., along with his wife, Andrea Rhone. Her family extended beyond her immediate children to include her cherished sister-in-law and longtime friend, Gladys Jefferson, six treasured grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who felt more like family. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Rhone Sr., and her dear sister, Alberta White. Their memories lingered in her heart, providing a foundation for the family she held so dear. In her later years, Barbara found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in watching television. She was especially fond of game shows and mystery series, which she watched with an enthusiasm that brought comfort and familiarity to her days. A woman of faith, Barbara was an active member of the 2nd Baptist Church until her health no longer allowed her to participate. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing solace and strength. A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on October 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220.
