Barbara Ann Holmes

Barbara Ann Holmes, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world in her sleep on August 19, 2026. Born on July 29, 1950, in Cordele, Georgia, Barbara's life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. The cherished daughter of Eugene and Edna Vivian Robertson (Boatwright), Barbara was predeceased by her loving parents and her devoted husband, Ralph V. Holmes Sr., whom she married on June 25, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Together, they raised three wonderful children until Ralph's passing in November 1986. Barbara's legacy lives on through her surviving children, James Knight, Ralph V. Holmes Jr., Eric D. Holmes Sr., and her daughter-in-law, I'nday A. Holmes. She was the treasured grandmother of Kayla Holmes, Amar Gantt, Eric Holmes Jr., Ricaiah Hardy-Holmes, Ronyae Hardy-Holmes, C'Asia Holmes, and I'nday E. Holmes, as well as the great-grandmother to Sora (Kayla) and Hassan (Ronyae). Her brother, John Robertson, also mourns her passing, along with countless extended family members and friends. Barbara dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a Home Health Aide with BMG Circle of Life, a role that perfectly suited her compassionate nature. A woman of many interests, she found joy in tending to her plants, solving puzzles, painting by number on her tablet, and engaging with various television shows. Above all, she cherished moments spent with her family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her granddaughter, I'nday, fondly remembers Barbara as "a spicy lady, full of fire and fun with a laugh that could brighten the day for everyone." Barbara's stories and jokes brought warmth to every room, leaving a legacy of laughter and love that will be cherished by all who knew her. Barbara's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, resilience, and joy. Her unique spirit, characterized by strength and warmth, will forever be a part of those she touched. "Those we love never truly leave us; their love becomes a part of who we are," and Barbara's spirit will continue to guide her loved ones. A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on August 31, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Terry Funeral Home, Inc., located at 4203 Haverford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
