Barbara Ann Coblentz
March 22, 1944 — April 30, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Coblentz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after experiencing a stroke. Barbara was born on March 22, 1944, in Meridian, Mississippi, to Joe and Mary Lang.
Barbara's warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. She was the bedrock of the Coblentz family, shaping their lives with her love and guidance. Predeceased by her parents Joe and Mary, her sister Martha Lang, and her brother Huey Lang, she leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
In 1964, Barbara married her soulmate, Robert Lee Coblentz, with whom she shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and shared adventures. Barbara's role as the family planner was the perfect complement to Bob's humor, creating a harmonious and joyful home. Their love story began at Rush Hospital in Meridian, where Barbara worked, and where they first met.
Barbara was the loving mother of Robbie Coblentz and his wife Bonnie, and Lisa Coblentz Landstreet and her husband Scott. She was the proud grandmother of four grandsons: David and Mark Coblentz, and Jordan and Logan Landstreet. Her heart was further filled with joy by the arrival of her great-grandchild. Each family member was blessed to own a quilt crocheted by Barbara, crafted with colors they personally selected, reflecting her deep love and care for them.
Educated at Meridian High School and later earning her LPN degree from Meridian Community College, Barbara dedicated her life to nurturing others. Her career as the beloved head lunch lady at Meridian High School and Armstrong Middle School in Starkville was marked by her genuine care for the students, including her own grandsons and their friends. Barbara's legendary yeast rolls and culinary skills were passed down through generations, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of enjoying her meals.
Barbara's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. A member of Faith Baptist Church in Starkville, she previously worshipped at Jubilee Mennonite Church and a Baptist church in Meridian. Her faith community was an important part of her life, providing comfort and fellowship.
In addition to her remarkable culinary talents, Barbara was a gifted artisan, creating beautiful ceramics that celebrated her children's interests. Her artistry was a testament to her creativity and love for family.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church, located at 1804 South Montgomery Street, Starkville, Mississippi, to honor Barbara's life and the joy she brought to everyone around her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Faith Baptist Church or Pinelake Church in Starkville, where her family worshipped.
Barbara Ann Coblentz's memory will forever be a beacon of love and warmth in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were privileged to share in her remarkable journey.
