Barbara Alice Lucas

November 8, 1943 — September 17, 2026

Barbara Alice Lucas, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital. Born on November 8, 1943, in Chilliwack, BC, she was the cherished daughter of Jack King and Rosa Mobbs (King). Barbara's life was a testament to love, family, and dedication. Barbara shared a beautiful life with her husband, Gerald (Gerry) Lucas, whom she married on November 26, 1960. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Leeyann Allan and Lita Lucas. Gerry and Barbara enjoyed 54 remarkable years together until his passing in 2014. Her life was enriched by her three grandchildren, Leslie Allan, Dean Allan, and Kevin Allan, also known as Kia Lin, as well as five great-grandchildren: Sara Skjerdal, Shayla Allan, Charlotte Lin, Beatrice Lin, and Ophelia Lin. Her legacy continues to flourish with her great-great-granddaughter, Alaya Skjerdal. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Gerry, her mother, Rosa, and her fathers, Jack King and Ben Mobbs. She is survived by her loving family, including her siblings: Gordon (Cindy) Kings, Carol (Clifford) Thompson, Judy (Henk) Vanderwan, Ian Mobbs, and Daniel (Cindy) Mobbs. A devoted family woman, Barbara was a stay-at-home mom until 1974 when she transitioned to work as a chambermaid before finding her calling with the Ministry of Forests. Her talent for precision and detail served her well in the drafting department, and she further contributed to various departments including compliance and silviculture, where she embraced her love for the outdoors. Barbara retired to care for her mother during her battle with cancer, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to family. Barbara was deeply involved in her community. She and Gerry moved to the Williams Lake Rod and Gun, now the Sportsmen's Association, in 1987, where they served as caretakers. Even as her responsibilities decreased with age, Barbara continued her involvement until her move to Retirement Concepts in 2024. Her community spirit extended to the Canadian Cancer Society, where she managed the accounting, as well as volunteering at the Seniors Activity Center and the Legion, where she called Bingo. Her passions were as diverse as they were numerous. An avid fisherman and hunter, Barbara's love for these pursuits drew her to the Rod and Gun Club. Her creative spirit shone through in her sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting, crafting fleece jackets, quilts, baby clothes, and blankets for her loved ones. She delighted in the simple pleasure of walking in the meadow with her cherished dogs and cats. Barbara's memory will be forever cherished by her family, friends, and community. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was filled with generosity and love.
