In Loving Memory

Barbara Adele Vasquenz
October 7, 1950 — May 13, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Adele Vasquenz, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Barbara peacefully departed this life on May 13, 2026, after a valiant battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was 75 years old.
Barbara was born on October 7, 1950, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late William and Dorothea (Klemaier) Runta. She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant siblings, whose memories she held dear throughout her life.
Barbara's journey was marked by a lifelong commitment to learning and compassion. She earned a Master's degree in Sociology from Illinois State University, a testament to her dedication to understanding and improving the lives of others. Her academic pursuits were just one facet of her multifaceted life.
In 1985, Barbara married the love of her life, Joe Vasquenz. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared interests. Their 41-year marriage was a testament to their unwavering support and devotion to one another. Barbara and Joe shared a passion for solving jigsaw puzzles, a pastime that brought them countless hours of joy and companionship.
Barbara's talents and interests were as diverse as they were plentiful. In her youth, she was an accomplished softball player, known for her exceptional skills as a pitcher. Her fast pitch was legendary among her peers. Tennis was another passion she pursued with vigor in her 20s and 30s, with her first husband, Dave. As the years passed, Barbara redirected her creative energies to sewing, quilting, crocheting, and coloring. Her beautifully colored cards and prayer verses were a source of inspiration to many.
An avid lover of nature, Barbara had a particular fondness for exotic birds and a special place in her heart for poodles. Her home was often filled with the joyful chirps of her feathered companions and the gentle presence of her beloved poodles.
Barbara's kindness and empathy knew no bounds. She had a remarkable ability to connect with those who were down on their luck, and she never hesitated to extend a helping hand when she could. Her generosity and compassion left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her devoted husband, Joe; six beloved children; two cherished daughters-in-law; one loving son-in-law; ten adoring grandchildren; and six precious great-grandchildren, with two more eagerly anticipated later this year. Her family was her greatest joy, and her love for them was boundless.
The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the dedicated staff at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash Inpatient Care Center for their compassionate care during Barbara's final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barbara Vasquenz Medical Expense Fundraiser at Barbara Vasquenz Medical Expense Fundraiser.
