Barbara A. Bierman

November 21, 1939 — September 17, 2026

Barbara Bierman, 86, of Kansas City, Kansas, died on September17, 2026, in Kansas City, Kansas. Born on November 21, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas, Barbara lived a life marked by dedication to education, service to others, and lasting devotion to the people around her. She graduated from Bonner Springs High School and went on to attend Pittsburg State University, where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. It was there that she met Leonard Bierman, her husband of 55 years. Barbara devoted her professional life to children as a kindergarten teacher, a calling that reflected both her training and her natural way with young people. She retired after 43 years in education, concluding a long and meaningful career spent in the classroom. She was known for being kind to everyone and was especially great with children, qualities that remained central throughout her life and work. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her years in education. Barbara served as a missionary with a medical group that traveled to Jamaica each year to provide medical attention and medication to local residents. That work reflected a practical spirit of service and a willingness to give her time and care where it was needed. Barbara also enjoyed the arts and took part in drama club performances at local venues. This interest added another dimension to her life, allowing her to share in community productions and remain active in a creative setting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret Lattin; her husband, Leonard Bierman; and her daughter, Syndi Bierman. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Shari Bierman of Topeka, Kansas; her grandsons, Kraig Schweinfurth of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kurtis Schweinfurth of Kansas City, Kansas; her great-grandchildren, Rene Salazar, Keigh Schweinfurth, Justin Schweinfurth, and Kaileigh Schweinfurth; and cousins, Peggy Hoines of Houston, Texas, and David Hoines of Leavenworth, Kansas.
