In Loving Memory

Autumn Vey Cermak
September 15, 1932 — May 27, 2026
Autumn Vey Cermak, cherished mother, devoted wife, and beloved friend, peacefully departed this world on May 27, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on September 15, 1932, in the serene town of Corvallis, Oregon, Autumn lived a life that was as nurturing and vibrant as the gardens she lovingly tended.
Autumn was the daughter of Beatrice and Roy Olsen, who instilled in her a love for nature and a gentle kindness that she carried throughout her life. She graduated from Alsea High School, where her bright spirit and warm smile began to illuminate the lives of those around her.
In her early career, Autumn dedicated herself as an office secretary for the state of Oregon in Salem. It was during these years that she discovered a passion for detail and organization, skills that would serve her well in both her professional and personal life. However, it was a chance meeting at a local square dancing organization that would change the course of her life forever. There, she met Alfred Cermak, the love of her life. They were married on September 15, 1968, at the charming Silver Bells Chapel of Reno, Nevada, surrounded by dear friends Peter and Yola Bodtker.
Together, Autumn and Alfred built a life rooted in love and simplicity on a small farm. For 45 years, they nurtured not only their land but also their beloved son, Aaron Cermak, who survives her. Their home was a sanctuary of warmth, filled with the scent of freshly sewn garments and the vibrant colors of the flowers Autumn took pride in cultivating.
Autumn's hands were never idle; whether sewing and mending clothes for her family or guiding seeds into the earth, she found joy in creation. Her gardens were masterpieces, brimming with fruits, vegetables, and blossoms that mirrored the beauty she saw in the world.
Known to all as a sweet lady with a warm smile, Autumn's gentle spirit touched everyone she met. Her kindness was a balm, her laughter a melody, and her presence a gift. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her as a beacon of grace and love, her life a testament to the power of a gentle heart.
Autumn was preceded in death by her dear husband Alfred, with whom she is now reunited. In her honor, the family requests that donations be made to Salem Friends of Felines, an organization close to Autumn's heart.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Regency Woodland assisted living for their compassionate care during Autumn's final years. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life and legacy, honoring her wish for simplicity and privacy.
Autumn Vey Cermak will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, the beauty she cultivated in the world, and the warmth she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her soul now rests in the gardens of heaven, where her spirit will bloom eternally.
