In Loving Memory

Julia Smith
January 11, 1971 — May 20, 2026
It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Auntie, born Julia Smith, on May 20, 2026. Julia passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Stage 4 cancer, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. She was 55 years old.
Born on January 11, 1971, in Albany, Georgia, to John and Olivia Smith, Julia was a beacon of light and love to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her childhood in the close-knit community of Albany laid the foundation for a life marked by compassion, resilience, and a remarkable strength of character.
Julia was predeceased by her beloved father, John Smith, and her precious daughter, Keisha Banks, whom she lovingly joins in eternal rest. Her spirit, however, continues to shine brightly through her surviving family: her devoted husband, Willie Cooper; her cherished daughter, Amanda Jones, and stepson, Tony Jones. Her legacy of love is further carried forward by her siblings Angela Robinson, Tonja Robinson, Nick Robinson, and Kacie Robinson.
As a grandmother to five and a great-grandmother to seven, Julia's nurturing spirit and warm embrace provided endless comfort and joy to her family. Her home was a sanctuary filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of her incomparable Southern cooking, where family and friends gathered to create memories that will forever be cherished.
A faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Julia was known for her unwavering devotion and could be found each Sunday in the front row, her heart open and her faith steadfast. Her life was a testament to her deep commitment to her faith, and she inspired many with her kindness, grace, and generosity.
Julia's strength and determination were most evident in the face of adversity. Even while bravely battling cancer, she faced each day with courage and a radiant smile, teaching all who knew her the true meaning of resilience and hope.
Friends and family are invited to honor Julia's life at a service to be held on June 5, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Oak View Cemetery, located at 420 S Jackson St. In this time of remembrance, we celebrate the grace and dignity with which Julia lived her life, and we find solace in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to inspire us all.
Though she is no longer with us, Julia's memory will remain forever in the hearts of all those who loved her. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the love and lessons she generously shared, and we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Julia's honor to the cancer research foundation of your choice, continuing her legacy of hope and healing for others facing similar battles.
