With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Audrey M. Fugaj, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left us on July 12, 2026. Born on January 13, 1936, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Audrey was a beacon of joy and resilience throughout her remarkable 90 years.
Audrey was the beloved daughter of Charles F. Gaddin and Dorothy Gaddin, and her life was a testament to her family's rich legacy. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Steven J. Fugaj, with whom she shared an enduring love story. Together, they created a beautiful family that continues to reflect their love and values.
Audrey is survived by her loving children, Stephen C. Fugaj and his wife Robin, and Randall J. Fugaj and his wife Cheryl. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Miskov (and her husband Stevan), Steve Fugaj (and his wife Katie), Randy Fugaj (and his wife Alyssa), and Rachel Fugaj. Audrey was further blessed with nine great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Audrey was a dynamic entrepreneur, dedicating her career to running several successful businesses. Her work was marked by innovation and a tireless spirit that inspired everyone around her. Outside of her professional endeavors, Audrey found immense joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a passion for fishing and was known for her love of playing bingo. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were opportunities for Audrey to connect with others and share her infectious laughter and spirit.
Audrey had the rare gift of making every encounter feel special. Always the life of the party, her infectious laugh would light up any room. She embraced life with a vibrant energy and a gracious heart, endearing her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to celebrate the life of Audrey M. Fugaj will be held on August 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our Light Parish, located at 13145 S. Houston, Chicago, IL 60633. As we gather to honor her memory, we hold close the family’s heartfelt message: "Que Sera, Sera. (Whatever will be will be)."
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to a charity of your choice in Audrey's memory, reflecting her generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
