It is with both profound sadness and a sense of celebration for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Audrey Jean Ida Krummrich, who departed this world on May 26, 2026, at the age of 98. Audrey passed surrounded by her loving family at the Dammert Skilled Care facility in Belleville, Illinois. Born on May 5, 1928, in Freeburg, Illinois, Audrey was the beloved daughter of Walter and Frieda Tegtmeier. She was raised in a warm and nurturing environment alongside her siblings and carried those family values throughout her life. Audrey’s nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication to her family were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her. On May 1, 1954, Audrey married the love of her life, Richard E. Krummrich, in Belleville, Illinois. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Although Richard preceded her in death, their bond remained a guiding light for Audrey throughout her years. Audrey was a devoted mother to her children, Kristine (Edward) Votoupal and Kurt (Mary Elizabeth) Krummrich, instilling in them the same principles of kindness, resilience, and compassion that she so effortlessly embodied. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with her beloved grandchildren, Katherine (Eric) Nurczyk and Megan (Jason) Payne, and her great-grandchild, Jack Nurczyk. Preceded in death by her dear parents, Walter and Frieda Tegtmeier, and her siblings, Florence (Harrell) Dinwiddie, Marie (Ralph) Geminn, Walter (Marion) Tegtmeier, Louise (Lorraine) Joegens, and Shirley (Virgil) Kennedy, Audrey's life was a testament to the strength and unity that family can provide. She also mourned the loss of her nephew, Gary Tegtmeier, niece, Lynn McWhorter, and nephew, Bruce Kennedy. Audrey’s legacy is carried forward by her numerous nieces and nephews, who remember her as a beacon of wisdom and love. Her gentle demeanor and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know her. Throughout her life, Audrey faced challenges with grace and fortitude, always looking to the future with hope and optimism. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. In celebrating Audrey's life, we remember the laughter she shared, the love she gave, and the strength she inspired in others. May her spirit continue to guide and comfort all who were blessed by her presence. A private family service will be held to honor Audrey’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Audrey’s memory, allowing her generous spirit to live on. Audrey Jean Ida Krummrich will be dearly missed, yet she lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, forever a part of the lives she so lovingly touched.
