Audra Sue Alkire

Audra Sue Alkire, affectionately known as Sue, passed away peacefully at her home on September 9th, 2026. Born on April 17th, 1946, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Sue was a beacon of kindness, creativity, and warmth to all who knew her. Sue was the cherished daughter of the late Glen A. Burr and Betty Sue Burr. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jason Alkire, her sister Sheila Kay Kimball, and her devoted parents. Though their absence left a void, Sue's enduring spirit and love continued to nurture and inspire her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Winston C. (Bud) Alkire, with whom she shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their journey began on December 20th, 1965, and together they created a legacy of family and unity. Sue was the proud mother of two sons, Cary Alkire and his wife Candace of Summersville, WV, and Carl Alkire and his husband Brandon of Thelma, Kentucky. She was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, Taylor, Colton, David, and Joshua, and a doting great-grandmother to London Avery Harris, Victoria Mae Alkire, Elias Thomas Alkire, and Ava Lynn Wiley. Also survived by the daughter she never had her fur baby Bella. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Sue's creativity knew no bounds. She was an avid crafter and a passionate painter, finding joy and solace in the beauty of her creations. Her artistic talents were matched only by her love for the great outdoors, where she spent countless hours camping and making memories with her family. Her warmth and enthusiasm for life touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Sue's sister Judy Shaffer and her brothers Ronnie Burr and Eddie Burr will forever hold her in their hearts, cherishing the laughter and love shared throughout their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Sue's memory to a charity of their choice, honoring her generous spirit and commitment to helping others. As we remember Sue, let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived, the love she shared, and the legacy she leaves behind. Her kindness, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
