It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Assinate Louise Stewart, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on January 30, 2026, in the comfort of her home. Assinate was born on March 22, 1935, in the beautiful parish of Saint Ann, Jamaica, to Inez Davidson and Norval Stewart. Assinate dedicated over five decades of her life to the healthcare profession, a calling that was more than just a career. Her compassion and kindness were the cornerstones of her work, and she left an indelible mark on the countless patients, families, and colleagues she encountered throughout her life. Her unwavering commitment to caring for others served as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A woman of many talents and interests, Assinate found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking and baking, infusing her dishes with love and warmth that nourished both body and soul. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, blooming with the same care and attention that she bestowed upon her family and friends. Conversations with Assinate were filled with laughter, wisdom, and a sense of belonging that brought comfort to many. Assinate's friendly, warm, and witty personality was matched only by her infectious laugh and playful sense of humor. She had a remarkable ability to turn ordinary moments into cherished memories, and her kind heart brought happiness to all who surrounded her. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Preceded in death by her beloved son Danny, Assinate leaves behind a loving family, including her six children: Fay, Yvonne, Bariff, Joy, Patrick, and Karen. She also leaves behind 12 treasured grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit and values. In celebration of Assinate's life and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity close to your heart, in memory of her selfless spirit and dedication to helping others. As we say goodbye to Assinate, we hold her memory close, comforted by the knowledge that her joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
