With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ashon Anthony McNeil, who departed this life on June 22, 2026, at the age of 40. Born on August 19, 1985, in the vibrant heart of Manhattan, New York, Ashon lived a life marked by creativity, love, and a spirit that touched everyone around him.
Ashon was the cherished son of Anthony Jerome McNeil and Lamonthel Tangee McNeil, who instilled in him the values of integrity, passion, and a deep appreciation for life. As a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Dahia Destiny McNeil, Ashon exemplified what it meant to love unconditionally. His legacy lives on through her, and his spirit will continue to guide her.
Professionally, Ashon spent over sixteen years as a dedicated Professional Truck Driver, crisscrossing the vast expanses of the United States. His career was not just a job but a testament to his unyielding work ethic and his commitment to providing for his family. Alongside his professional pursuits, Ashon was a man of varied interests and passions. His love for reading was matched only by his devotion to music—a passion that fueled his creativity as an artist. He was known for his ability to craft melodies and lyrics that resonated deeply, always inspiring those around him to see the world through a different lens.
Ashon was blessed with a remarkable intelligence and a curiosity that knew no bounds. He possessed a sharp wit and a playful sense of humor, often using it to engage and challenge those he loved. He never hesitated to stir the pot, believing that life was meant to be lived with gusto and a little bit of mischief.
Family was the cornerstone of Ashon's life. His love for his family was fierce and unwavering. He is survived by his daughter, Dahia Destiny McNeil; his sisters, Ginneh LaSette McNeil and Ayanna Joy McNeil; his nephew, Aseer Heru McNeil-Smith; as well as five great aunts, four great uncles, seven uncles, ten aunts, and a vast network of cousins, family, and friends. Each of these relationships was treasured, and each person held a special place in his heart.
Those who knew Ashon understood that he was a man of conviction, one who believed in keeping his word and doing right by others. Though he walked his own path and faced life's challenges uniquely, his life was a symphony of memories, laughter, and creativity. His imprint on our lives will never be forgotten.
In honoring Ashon's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing his family and close friends to celebrate his life in an intimate setting. Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life he led and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
Ashon Anthony McNeil will be dearly missed, but his legacy will live on through the stories, music, and love he shared with us all. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished.

Reflections by Family and Friends
The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning
that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.
