She pursued her calling at the University of Miami, earning a teaching degree that would serve as the foundation for a remarkable 20-year career at Beach Elementary School. As a dedicated educator, Artis touched the lives of countless children, sparking their imaginations and encouraging them to dream beyond the stars. On June 27, 1976, Artis married the love of her life, Artis Henderson, in a union marked by laughter, adventure, and unwavering support. Together, they built a life filled with cherished moments, shared dreams, and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew them. Artis was known for her free spirit, a quality that endeared her to friends, family, and students alike.
