Arthur Lee Morton, born on July 11, 1954, in Vaughn, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, at K.U. Medical Center, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Arthur's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and adventure, woven together by his deep connections with family, friends, and his community. Arthur was the cherished son of the late Rebecca and John Morton and grew up alongside his siblings, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Sam Morton, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. In 2006, Arthur found a partner in life and love when he married Gladys in Kansas City, KS. Together, they shared 20 beautiful years of marriage, filled with laughter, companionship, and shared dreams. Arthur's heart was full with his children: Tremeka Morton, Natalie Ware, Natasha Ware, Kimberly Miller, and Jeremy Morton, all residing in Mississippi, and Eric Johnson, Celeste Harris, Treneice Ross, Lee Harris, and Brandon Harris, all of Kansas City. He was a proud father and a doting grandfather to 19 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Arthur's career was marked by hard work and dedication. He spent the majority of his life working in maintenance and landscaping, and he also cherished his time working on a farm in his home state of Mississippi. His work was a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. Arthur's love for life was evident in his hobbies and interests. He was a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, enjoying the freedom of the open road in his younger days as a member of a motorcycle club. He also loved horseback riding, hunting, and fishing, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors. A man of faith, Arthur was a devoted member of Big Bethel Church in Mississippi, where he found community and spiritual nourishment. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, providing him with strength and comfort. Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Gladys, his children, his siblings Barbara Massey, Lillie Harris, and Vincent Morton of Kansas City, and Timothy Morton (Cece), Charles Morton (Doris), and James Melvin (Lula) of Mississippi, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly. A service to celebrate Arthur's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Highland Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of their choice, honoring Arthur's generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Arthur Lee Morton will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, a cherished grandfather, and a true friend. His legacy of love, strength, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
