Arthur “Daddy” Harper

April 5, 1962 — February 28, 2026

Arthur "Daddy" Harper, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully departed this life on February 28, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on April 5, 1962, in the small, close-knit town of Edgard, Louisiana, Arthur was a beloved son of the late Mildred Joseph. He now joins in eternal rest his mother, grandparents Almegia and Leroy Joseph, brother Kevin Joseph, and nephew Dominic Harper. Arthur's journey through life was distinguished by love, dedication, and a spirit of generosity that touched all who knew him. He shared 37 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Tammy Harper, a testament to a partnership built on mutual respect and unwavering support. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family that became the center of Arthur's universe. He was the proud father of three remarkable daughters, Alouch Harper, Shaina (Courtney) Moses, and A’Kia (Jarron) Young, whose lives have been profoundly shaped by his warmth and wisdom. Arthur's legacy extends through his six grandchildren: Jaila, Kylie, and Khari Moses, and Kane, Kace, and Kree Young, who brought immense joy to his life. His love for them was boundless, and he delighted in being a guiding light for each one. Arthur's early years in Edgard led him to Second Ward High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1979. There, he forged lifelong friendships and began developing the skills that would lead him to a fulfilling career as a welder. His talents took him to Avondale Shipyard, Occidental Chemical, and Bayer, where he was not only respected for his craftsmanship but also admired for his camaraderie and integrity. Outside of work, Arthur was an avid fisherman. He found peace and contentment in the gentle rhythm of the waters, often sharing this passion with family and friends. He was also known for his love of playing Boo Ray with his friends and sons-in-law, creating cherished memories filled with laughter and friendly competition. Arthur's home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, where everyone felt welcomed and loved. Arthur's influence extended beyond his immediate family; he was a big brother and father figure to many, offering guidance, support, and a listening ear to those in need. His genuine kindness and selflessness left an indelible mark on the Edgard community and beyond. He leaves behind a loving family, including his siblings Byron (Nedra) Harper, Jeffrey (Sandra) Harper, and Troy (Leo) Baker, who will forever cherish the moments shared and lessons learned from their beloved brother. A service to celebrate Arthur's life will be held on March 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. As we gather to honor his memory, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared with a man whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and community. Arthur "Daddy" Harper will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
