October 4, 1935 — October 11, 2026
Arnett Starling Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on October 4, 1935, in the warm and welcoming town of Cuthbert, Georgia, Arnett, affectionately known as "Arnie," lived a life filled with love, service, and boundless dedication to his family and country.
Arnie was the cherished son of the late Albert Starling Sr. and Delores Starling Arnett. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna Mae (Campbell) Starling, with whom he shared over 30 years of marriage. Their union, formed in 1956, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a family and shared three beautiful children. After Edna's passing in 1986, Arnie found companionship once more with Margaret Jeter Starling, who also predeceased him, as well as his dear daughter, Merry Delores Starling, who passed away in 2023. He was also preceded by his brothers, Albert Starling Jr. and Johnny B. Starling, and his sister, Ethel Foster Starling.
Arnie's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his country. As a proud and honorable veteran, he served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, dedicating more than 25 years to military service. His commitment to duty and excellence was evident in every aspect of his life, earning him the respect and admiration of his comrades and all who knew him.
Beyond his military career, Arnie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman, often finding peace and tranquility by the water's edge. A lover of classic westerns and a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Arnie shared his passions with family and friends, creating cherished memories filled with laughter and camaraderie.
Arnie leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, carried on by his surviving family members. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Janet Starling Agutu, and her husband, George; his son, Arnett Starling Jr.; and his grandsons, Evan Vankirk Abrahams and Laemo George Agutu. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Doris L. Gates, brother-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him fondly.
