With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ardiss Dann Spalding, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully at home on October 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 10, 1943, in Clinton, Iowa, Ardiss lived a life marked by love, laughter, and resilience. Ardiss was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Jeanette (Holst) Dann. She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, and three brothers, all of whom she held close in her heart. In 1998, Ardiss married the love of her life, D. Richard Spalding, in a joyful ceremony in Decatur, Georgia. Together, they built a life filled with joy, shared adventures, and deep love. A proud graduate of Camanche High School's Class of 1961, Ardiss went on to work for Quikrete in the Accounting Department. Her dedication and expertise were well recognized, as she was admired for her efficiency and the genuine customer service she provided. Ardiss was a woman of many passions, all of which she embraced with enthusiasm and joy. She found solace and delight in the great outdoors, often spending her days boating, swimming, and basking in the sun at the beach and the pool. A lover of country music, she also found endless enjoyment in reading, her mind ever curious and open to the world. Yet, it was her family that truly captured Ardiss's heart. She adored spending time with her children, Cory (Kelly) Lind, Angie (Steve) Fredrickson, Katie (Grady) Brain, and Ricky (Robin) Spalding, and cherished every moment with her ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who fondly referred to her as Gigi. Whether playing cards, engaging in spirited games of cribbage, or piecing together puzzles, Ardiss treasured the laughter and conversations shared with her family, making each gathering a memorable occasion. Known for her quick wit and warm smile, Ardiss's laughter was a gift she freely shared, lighting up the lives of all who knew her. She was a strong, independent, and hardworking individual who loved deeply and fiercely. Ardiss lived her life on her own terms, with integrity and a heart full of love, leaving a legacy of warmth and joy that will endure through those who had the privilege to know her. As we say goodbye to Ardiss, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, kindness, and unwavering spirit. Her memory will remain a bright light guiding us through the days ahead.
