Ardis Faye Norton

August 1, 1951 — May 4, 2026

Ardis Faye Norton, a treasured wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, at Holy Family Hospital in the comforting presence of her loved ones. Born on August 1, 1951, in the small, welcoming town of Miles City, Montana, Ardis was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Ardis was the beloved daughter of Richard and Eva Waldow, who instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience. She grew up alongside her brother Gary and sister Lynn, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Her family roots were deep, and she carried this sense of belonging with her throughout her life. In November of 1969, Ardis married the love of her life, Howard Norton, in a union that was as enduring as it was loving. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, welcoming their children, Curtis and Teresa, who were the light of their lives. Although predeceased by her children, Ardis' love for them was as boundless as the Montana sky. Ardis was a proud graduate of St. Marie’s High School in Idaho, class of 1969. Her career began at Sears, where she worked while her children were young, balancing motherhood with grace and dedication. She found her calling in nutritional services with Spokane Public Schools, where she devoted 35 remarkable years, retiring from Lidgerwood Elementary. Her colleagues and the children she served remember her for her quick wit, kind heart, and the genuine care she brought to her work. Known for her love of adventure, Ardis found joy in trips to Reno, the beach, and particularly Seaside, where she felt a profound connection to the tranquility of the ocean. Her passion for visiting casinos was well-known among her friends and family, with whom she cherished spending time. Ardis also had a green thumb, finding peace and purpose in gardening, which she approached with the same nurturing spirit she applied to her relationships. Ardis was predeceased by her son Curtis Norton, daughter Teresa Hamilton, granddaughter Alyssa Hamilton, grandsons Jeffrey Norton and Brandon Norton, brother Gary Waldow, and sister Lynn Mourning. Her legacy is lovingly carried on by her devoted husband, Howard, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who remember her as "loved forever." A celebration of Ardis' life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home, located at 5100 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived, to share stories, laughter, and tears as they honor the memory of a remarkable woman. Ardis Faye Norton touched the lives of all she met with her boundless love and unwavering kindness. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her memory be a guiding light to all who knew her.
