April Cook, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and a beacon of warmth and kindness, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and community service. Born on April 23, 1973, in Durant, Oklahoma, she was the cherished daughter of Roy and Deborah Adams. April's life was a testament to her deep love for family and her unwavering dedication to her community.
April graduated from Caddo High School in 1991, where she formed the foundation for a life filled with cherished friendships and memorable experiences. On May 25, 1991, she married her soulmate, Alfred Cook, in Madill, Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two wonderful children and welcoming four adored grandchildren into their lives.
April's career was marked by her commitment to the Choctaw Nation, where she dedicated 22 years, rising to the esteemed position of head mail clerk. Her colleagues remember her as a diligent and compassionate leader who always made time for others. April's dedication to her community extended beyond her career; she served on the Kenefic city council and was the mayor of Kenefic, where her leadership and empathy left a lasting impact.
Her love for photography, crafts, and board games was only surpassed by her devotion to her family. April's home was a haven for all, including the many strays she lovingly cared for. Her quick wit, ability to communicate effectively, and her role as a peacemaker made her the heart of her family and community.
April was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Deborah Adams, and her sister, Delta Vieux. She leaves behind her husband of 34 years, Alfred Cook; her son, Brandon Cook and his wife, Mallory; her daughter, Nacole Cook and her wife, Rachel; and her beloved grandchildren, Jace Cook, Lucas Hummel, Easton Cook, and Madelynn Hummel. April's legacy also lives on in the hearts of her nieces, cousins, and countless friends and family members.
In honor of April's compassion and spirit, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire acts of kindness and love.
