Antonio Chipeco

Antonio Chipeco, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 12, 1935, in the Philippines to Dominador and Angelita Chipeco, Antonio lived a life full of love, dedication, and warmth. Antonio's journey began in the Philippines, where he was nurtured by his parents, Dominador and Angelita, and shared his childhood with his sisters Rachel, Marion, and Zayda. He pursued higher education at The University of the Philippines, graduating in 1957 with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. His thirst for knowledge and innovation led him to immigrate to the United States, where he earned his Professional Engineer’s license from California in 1971. His career as a Mechanical Engineer was marked by his significant contributions to nuclear power plant design at Bechtel Power Corp., where he served with distinction for 25 years before retiring in 1993. Prior to Bechtel, he began his professional journey at Holmes & Narver, a small engineering services firm, which set the stage for his illustrious career. In Quezon City, Philippines, on December 16, 1961, Antonio married his soulmate, Lydia Libres. Together, they celebrated 65 years of a blissful marriage, raising three cherished children: Raul, Melanie, and Rick. Their home was always filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories, which extended to their grandchildren Wesley, Tamilyn, Caitlin, and Devin, and their great-grandson Emmett. Antonio was a man of faith, actively participating in his Catholic parish throughout his life. His spirituality was a guiding force, and he lived his life with integrity, compassion, and kindness. Known for his sharp intellect and warm smile, Antonio had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. His generosity and kindness left an indelible impact on all who knew him. In his later years, Antonio found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid gardener, tending to his beloved plants with care and dedication. His home served as a sanctuary where family and friends gathered, and he was always eager to work on small projects around the house. Antonio is predeceased by his parents, Dominador and Angelita, and his sisters Rachel and Marion. He is survived by his devoted wife Lydia, his children Raul (Lauri), Melanie (Joe), and Rick, his elder sister Zayda, his brothers Dominador Jr. and Arturo, his grandchildren Wesley (Keren), Tamilyn (Tyler), Caitlin (Jose), Devin, and his great-grandson Emmett. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing him. A celebration of Antonio's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at All Souls Cemetery & Mortuary, located at 4400 Cherry Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90807. For those unable to attend in person, an online streaming link will be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Antonio’s memory.
