It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Antonino Maria Finisterré, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed this world on June 19, 1995, at the age of 76. Antonino passed away peacefully at his home in San Demetrio Corone, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, surrounded by the love of his family, after bravely facing the challenges of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy.
Antonino was born on January 7, 1919, in the picturesque town of Santa Cristina Gela, Palermo, Sicilia, Italy. He was the cherished son of Giussepe and Maria Tuano. Despite the early loss of his mother in 1923 and his father's passing in 1945, Antonino carried forward their legacy of resilience and love. He was predeceased by his parents and cherished the memories of his upbringing in the rolling hills of Sicily.
In 1937, Antonino married the love of his life, Vita, and together they built a life filled with joy and laughter in Calabria. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love, and their bond only grew stronger as they welcomed their children and later, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, into their lives.
Antonino's life was marked by dedication and service. He completed his education in the military, where he served honorably for seven years. His comrades remember him as a man of integrity and strength, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. After his military service, Antonino returned to his roots, working as a farmer. His deep connection to the land and his commitment to his community were evident in every task he undertook.
Beyond his work, Antonino was an active member of a local cancer support group, where his warm spirit and joyful disposition provided comfort and hope to many. His life was a testament to the power of positivity and compassion, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.
Antonino leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his devoted brother Domenico, his beloved children, including his son Giussepe Maria, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Each of them carries a piece of his joyful spirit and loving heart.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Antonino's memory to Childline, reflecting his lifelong commitment to nurturing and supporting the next generation.
Though Antonino's journey on this earth has ended, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter, his stories, and his unwavering love will remain in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace, dear Antonino. You are deeply missed, eternally loved, and forever cherished.
