Anthony Stewart McInnis

September 22, 1957 — October 23, 2026

Mr. Anthony Stewart McInnis, affectionately known as “Tony,” age 69, passed away at his home in Norfolk, Virginia, on Friday, October 23, 2026, following his battle with Stage IV prostate and bone cancer. Anthony was born on September 22, 1957, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Edward Lee McInnis and Eares McInnis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie L. McInnis and Eares McInnis; his brothers, Edward McInnis and Dwayne A. McInnis; and his sisters, Mary L. Robinson and Machare McInnis. Throughout his working years, Anthony worked diligently as a pool technician and construction worker until his health no longer permitted him to continue. Tony was truly a people person who enjoyed life and the company of others. He was known for his love of dancing, talking trash, playing cards, and spending time with his friends. He had a way of bringing laughter into a room, offering words of encouragement when someone needed them, and greeting others with his familiar, unforgettable smile. His outgoing personality, sense of humor, and ability to make connections with people will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him. Above all, Anthony had a love for the Lord. His faith was an important part of his life, and he knew the importance of trusting in God through life's joys and challenges. His journey was not always easy, but through it all, the Lord remained a source of strength and comfort. His love for God and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew him. Anthony leaves to cherish his precious memories his siblings, Vivian Cooper, Joyce Robinson (James), Debra Yancey (Kenny), and Dexter McInnis. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to cherish the memories they shared with him. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, we find comfort in knowing that God is faithful and that His promises endure. The memories of Tony's laughter, his conversations, his dancing, his faith, and his unmistakable smile will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. “To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8

Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go.
