Anthony Roy Monroe, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on March 8, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, Anthony's life was marked by unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his passions. Anthony was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Mamie Bryant. He grew up in a vibrant household alongside his siblings Shirley Monroe, Alberta Smith, and Reggie Monroe, all of whom predeceased him. Also predeceasing him was his oldest child, Anthony Monroe, who he has now joined in eternal rest. A proud disabled Army veteran, Anthony served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his strength, courage, and commitment, qualities that continued to define him throughout his life. In 1968, Anthony married the love of his life, Shirley, with whom he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family and raised their children, Anthony, Eric, Makebia, Ishmael, Sherry, Nicole, and Crystal Monroe. His legacy extends to his grandchildren Dakota, Inka, and Sequoia, who brought immense joy to his life. Anthony had a profound love for motorcycles and music, two passions that brought him great happiness. He found freedom in the open road and comfort in melodies. His family fondly recalls the many times he serenaded them, his voice a familiar and cherished sound that filled their home with warmth and love. A celebration of Anthony's life will be held on April 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the home of his beloved wife, Shirley, located at 819 Grammercy Lane. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the life of a man who touched so many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love. Anthony Roy Monroe will be remembered for his indomitable spirit, his generous heart, and his unyielding dedication to those he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so freely gave.
