Anthony P. Royster, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the hospital on July 26, 2026. He was born on May 1, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Charlie and Eula Royster. Anthony's life was a testament to dedication, love, and service, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. Anthony's journey began in the vibrant neighborhoods of Brooklyn, where he graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. He embarked on a distinguished career in the U.S. Army, serving from 1979 to 1999 and reaching the esteemed rank of Staff Sergeant. His commitment and bravery were recognized with numerous accolades, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal, among others. Anthony's service extended beyond national borders, earning him the Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. On October 16, 1982, Anthony married the love of his life, Gail Royster, in a beautiful ceremony in Brooklyn. Their union, spanning 44 wonderful years, was a beacon of love and partnership. Together, they nurtured a family grounded in love, raising two sons, Anthony P. Royster Jr. and Calvin L. Royster. Anthony's legacy continues through his cherished grandson, Calvin Royster Jr., who brought immense joy to his life. Beyond his military career, Anthony was a man of deep faith and musical talent. His soulful guitar playing enriched the congregations of the Supernatural Miracle Deliverance Mega Center in Lynchburg, SC, and the Grace and Mercy Outreach Ministry. He also shared his musical gifts with Willie Neal Johnson & The Gospel Keynotes, leaving a melody that will linger in the hearts of many. Anthony was known for his pleasant demeanor and infectious smile. He possessed a remarkable gift for making everyone around him feel welcomed and valued. His kindness and generosity were boundless, touching countless lives and leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his brother, Charlie Royster Jr., and sister, Eula Mae Ward. His family, friends, and community will deeply miss his presence, but his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
