Anthony Lam
May 23, 1950 — June 6, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Anthony Lam, who departed this world peacefully at home on June 6, 2026. Born on May 23, 1950, in Macau, China, Anthony was a cherished son to the late Joseph and Maria Lam and a beloved brother to the predeceased Paul Lam. His journey through life was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
Anthony’s life was a testament to dedication and achievement. After moving to the United States, he graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1969 and went on to earn a B.S. degree in Chemistry with a minor in Architecture in 1973 from the University of Illinois Chicago campus. His pursuit of knowledge led him to the University of Illinois Medical Center, where he received his D.D.S degree in 1977. For 37 years, Anthony practiced dentistry with a gentle hand and a warm heart, treating every patient as family. His innovative spirit shone through when he was awarded a patent for a dental image duplicating device in 2006, a reflection of his commitment to advancing his field.
In 1981, Anthony married the love of his life, Mary, and together they recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Their union was blessed with a son, Justin, who brought immense joy and pride to Anthony’s life. A family man through and through, Anthony cherished his time with his loved ones, including his older sisters Teresa Moisoff, Julia Szeto, Sr. Regina Lam, and Catherine Fok, as well as his older brother, Peter Lam.
Outside of his professional life, Anthony was an avid tennis player and a proficient weekend cook, often delighting friends and family with his culinary creations. He was a master of home projects, whether building a tree house complete with a swing and slide, installing solar panels, or cultivating a garden of vibrant flowers and vegetables. His compassion and generosity extended beyond his family; patients from Chinatown and far beyond traveled to receive his care, a testament to his reputation for kindness and respect.
Anthony’s legacy of love, compassion, and innovation will be honored at a service on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM, held at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 7211 W. Talcott Ave, Chicago, IL 60631. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Catholic Charities, an organization close to Anthony’s heart.
As we bid farewell to Anthony Lam, we celebrate a life that touched so many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him. Rest in peace, dear Anthony, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.
