Anthony J. Forte, a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in the comforting presence of his daughter Christine and granddaughter Tonianne on March 6, 2026, after a courageous seven-year battle with Alzheimer's. He was 91 years old. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 26, 1934, Anthony's life was a testament to resilience, love, and generosity.
Anthony was the cherished son of the late James and Theresa Forte. He grew up surrounded by a lively and loving family, being one of ten siblings: Constance, Vincenza, Jennie, Terry, Rose, Jim, Christopher, Marie, and Carmela, all of whom predeceased him. Despite the challenges of a large family, Anthony’s upbringing was rich with love and camaraderie, values he carried and shared throughout his life.
A proud alumnus of James Madison High School, Anthony furthered his education at Brooklyn College, where he developed a strong foundation that would support his distinguished career. He dedicated many years to Marine Transport Lines as a Marine Purchasing Agent, where his commitment and expertise were instrumental during the successful operation of the MARAD Ready Reserve vessels in both Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
Anthony's contribution to his field was only surpassed by his dedication to his family and friends. His granddaughter, Tonianne, was the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent in her company. Whether attending her school events or simply enjoying quiet afternoons together, Anthony's love for his family was unwavering and profound.
Known for his kindness and generosity, Anthony had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued and supported. His strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Anthony was a man who selflessly put others before himself, leaving a legacy of compassion and love that will continue to inspire.
Anthony is survived by his devoted daughter Christine, his treasured granddaughter Tonianne, and his loving nephews Robert and Terry Earley, as well as his great-nephews Jon Peter and Steven Earley. Although he had no great-grandchildren, his family remains deeply connected, bound by the love and values he instilled in them.
Family and friends are invited to honor Anthony's remarkable life at a service on March 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Scalia Funeral Home, located at 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10312. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that acts of kindness be performed in his memory, reflecting the generous spirit that Anthony embodied throughout his life.
