In Loving Memory

Anthony Hunter
May 2, 1953 — June 12, 2026
Anthony Hunter, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 2, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Anthony lived a life full of grit, determination, and love.
Anthony was the beloved son of the late Dorothy Mae Hunter and Earnest Thomas Hunter. He grew up alongside his brothers, Thomas and David Hunter, in a household that valued hard work and resilience. These qualities would carry him through life, shaping him into the man he became.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Janis Karen Hunter, who passed in 2005. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two wonderful daughters, Sheila and Nikki Hunter, instilling in them the values of family, integrity, and perseverance.
Anthony was a man of simple pleasures. He relished the tranquility of fishing, finding solace and comfort in the gentle lapping of water against the shore. A skilled mechanic, he spent countless hours working on cars, his hands crafting and creating with care and precision. These hobbies were not just pastimes, but expressions of his character—steadfast, focused, and full of heart.
Known fondly as a "mean old man," Anthony had a reputation that belied his true nature. Beneath a gruff exterior lay a heart filled with kindness and a spirit that cherished his loved ones deeply. His family fondly recalls seeing him downtown, speeding along in his wheelchair, a testament to his spirited nature and zest for life.
Anthony leaves behind a loving legacy in his daughters, Sheila and Nikki, and their families. He was a proud grandfather to Keira and Imani Hunter, Nafis Holt, and Tyree Pickron, and a doting great-grandfather to Adrian, Kase, McKenzie, Amir, Summer, and Loyal. His love for his family was boundless, and his memory will forever be cherished in their hearts.
In a private ceremony, family and close friends will gather to honor Anthony's life, reflecting on the memories he created and the love he shared. During this difficult time, the family extends their deepest gratitude for all the prayers, love, and support they have received.
As we remember Anthony, we are reminded of the words, “Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.” Anthony Hunter may have left this world, but his presence, his laughter, and his love will forever remain with those who knew him.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
