It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Eugene Thomas, a beloved father, brother, and friend. Anthony left this world on August 29, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on December 26, 1955, in Grinnell, Montezuma, Iowa, he was a cherished son of Carl Eugene and Anna Mae (Brooks) Thomas.
Anthony’s life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences and deep connections. He attended Palmer Elementary School and proudly graduated from Lincoln Jr. and Sr. High School, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. His education laid the foundation for a life filled with diverse careers and interests.
Throughout his working life, Anthony wore many hats, each with dedication and pride. He was a metal sorter, grocery stocker, clerk, and also delighted in the tangible rewards of yard maintenance and home renovations. His work ethic was admired by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
A man of faith, Anthony found solace and community in his church, where he was a valued member. His faith was a guiding light in his life, offering strength and comfort to him and those around him.
Anthony had a passion for engaging in debates, a testament to his sharp mind and love for intellectual challenge. Music was another of his great loves, providing a soundtrack to his life’s journey. He cherished family gatherings, where his laughter and stories would light up the room. His love for traveling took him to places far and wide, enriching his life with memories and experiences.
Anthony was predeceased by his father, Carl Eugene; brothers, Gregory Eugene and Ricardo Brooks; sisters, Shelia Ann Noblin and his twin, Andrea Jo Thomas; and his daughter, Gwendolyn. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Pearl and Hazel (Morris) Thomas, Leonard Brooks and Mary (Washington) Dudley, as well as numerous uncles and aunts who were dear to him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Anthony's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
As we remember Anthony, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and kindness. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
