Annie Ruth Manning peacefully departed this life on July 15, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on December 13, 1943, in Roswell, Georgia, Annie Ruth was the cherished daughter of Bertha Mae Heath and Sylvester Hammond. She was the beloved sister of Mary Frances Ransby and the late Robert Lee Hammond.
Annie Ruth’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. She married her soulmate, Ben Manning, on her birthday, December 13, 1970. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and compassion until Ben’s passing. Annie Ruth took great pride in her family, including her dear nephew, Robert Hammond, sister, Frances, and a host of extended family members and devoted friends who survive her.
Annie Ruth was a proud graduate of Bailey Johnson High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. Her journey continued to North Carolina, where she briefly attended secretarial school. However, it was in the kitchen where she truly flourished, spending many years as a distinguished culinarian. Her culinary talents were admired by many, and her dishes were filled with the same love and care she extended to those around her. Annie Ruth eventually retired to dedicate herself entirely to her mother’s care and to immerse herself in her church and community.
A lifelong member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia, Annie Ruth served faithfully in numerous roles, including the Mother’s Ministry, Pastor’s Aid Committee, Twelve Keys, Food Service Ministry, Usher Board, and as a Vacation Bible School teacher. Her devotion to her faith and her community was strong and unwavering.
Annie Ruth’s interests were as nurturing as her spirit. She loved studying God’s word, tending to her plants, and preparing meals that brought people together. Her weekly phone calls to friends and family were a testament to her dedication to maintaining meaningful connections.
Annie Ruth was known for her quick wit and warm smile, always ready with a joke to lift spirits. Her welcoming nature made everyone feel valued and at home in her presence. Her kindness and generosity were the hallmarks of a life lived with grace and purpose, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Annie’s special friends, church family, and all who knew, loved, and cared for her throughout her lifetime. Annie Ruth Manning’s legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were touched by her remarkable life.
