It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Annie Mae Nicholson, who departed this life peacefully at her home on June 28, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Annie was born on October 30, 1935, in the small, welcoming town of Ballinger, Texas. Annie was the cherished daughter of Cecil and Leona Wheeler, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and a sense of community that she carried throughout her life. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Don Nicholson, with whom she shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story began on February 24, 1953, in Ballinger, where they built a life together filled with laughter, joy, and the raising of their four children. Don and Annie were a testament to devotion, and their partnership remained a source of inspiration to all who knew them. Annie was a dedicated housewife and mother, roles she cherished above all else. She found immense joy in nurturing her family, providing them with a home that was always filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking. Her kitchen was a haven, a place where family and friends gathered to share meals and create lasting memories. Annie's talent for whipping up luscious meals was legendary, and her love for cooking was surpassed only by her love for those she cooked for. Her generous spirit extended beyond her family, as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In addition to her culinary prowess, Annie had a green thumb and took great delight in gardening. Her gardens were a vibrant testament to her love of nature and her skillful nurturing. Alongside her husband Don, Annie found joy in the lively rhythms of square dancing, a pastime that brought them closer and filled their lives with music and camaraderie. Annie was known for her radiant optimism and her remarkable ability to find the silver lining in any cloud. Her presence was a source of comfort, and her magical skill was in making everyone feel loved and valued. Her legacy of kindness and compassion lives on in her surviving children: Donna Cox and her spouse Rick, Larry Nicholson and his spouse Berta, Judy White, and Jeanie Jones and her spouse Tony. She leaves behind a large, loving family that includes 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of Annie's spirit with them. Annie is also survived by one sister and one brother, who, together with her extended family and friends, will remember her warmth, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering love. As we celebrate Annie's life, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to New Century Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the kindness and support shown to Annie and to them during this difficult time. Annie Mae Nicholson will forever be in our hearts, a beacon of love and light whose legacy will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
