In Loving Memory

Annie Lizzie McCauley-Jackson
August 9, 1943 — June 16, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Annie Lizzie McCauley-Jackson, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on June 16th, 2026. Born on August 9th, 1943, in Lutherville, Georgia, Annie's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and resilience, woven with the threads of her Southern heritage and the vibrant legacy of her treasured ancestors.
Annie was the beloved daughter of the late Charlie Dock and J Leae McCauley, and she was joyfully welcomed into a family of warmth and tradition. She was predeceased by her great-great-grandparents Grady and Lillian Williams, her great-grandparents Charlie and Emma McCauley, her parents, and her siblings, Della Pearl, Dock Grady, Charlie Lee, Robert Henry, and Johnny Thomas McCauley. She also reunites in spirit with her former husband Lester Jackson Jr., her son Lester Donnell Jackson Jr., and her grandson Daran Adams-Jackson Jr.
Annie's journey began in the vibrant community of Lutherville, where she completed her education at Greenville Consolidated School. She married Lester Jackson Jr. in 1961, and they shared a life together filled with cherished memories until their paths diverged in 1993. Annie found companionship later in life with her dear friend Frank Felton, whose presence brought her joy and comfort.
For over 27 years, Annie dedicated herself to her career at The Knoll Group in Grand Rapids, retiring in 2004 with a legacy of hard work and commitment. Prior to that, she graced the halls of the Atlanta train station as a cashier and served many with warmth and a smile as a waitress.
A devout member of New Hope Baptist Church, Annie's faith was a guiding light in her life. Her interests were as diverse as they were engaging; she found joy in the simple pleasures of watching NBA games and soap operas, bowling, playing spades, solving crossword puzzles, visiting casinos, and attending concerts. Above all, Annie's greatest delight was the laughter and love shared in the company of her family and friends.
Annie's culinary talents were legendary, her kitchen a haven of delicious aromas and heartfelt hospitality. Her homemade biscuits, salmon patties, fried chicken, fish, cornbread dressing, collard greens, and pound cakes were not just meals but expressions of love and tradition that nourished both body and soul. A dedicated shopper at Macy's Department Store, Annie's genuine personality, radiant smile, and infectious laughter could light up any room. Her strength, caring nature, and steadfast convictions were admired by all who knew her.
Annie leaves behind a family that was the cornerstone of her life: her devoted daughter Cynthia Jackson, who tenderly cared for her in her final days, and her precious great-grandson A'Mir. She is also survived by her granddaughter, along with her ten great-grandchildren, Tyrece, Tyonna, Zacara, Keonna, Kenny, Camrym, Ameila, Moneilia, E'Mari, and M'yaire, and a great-great-great-granddaughter. Annie's loving presence will be missed by her sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, and a host of friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
A celebration of Annie's life will be held on June 27th, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Rogers Height Church, located at 3025 Michael Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49509. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the University of Michigan West healthcare staffing team, especially the Wound Clinic, Heart and Vascular, and Hospice, for their compassionate care during Annie's final journey.
In these words, we honor a remarkable woman whose legacy of love will forever be cherished. May her spirit find peace and her memory continue to inspire all who knew her.
